We are happy to share with you about a recent event, 46th Annual Convention of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) which was held at Bangkok between October 11-13, 2011, 229 delegates from the hospitality industry from India had participated in the event.

Sohum was one of the sponsors for this event and we had an opportunity to address the forum and present our credentials to the hospitality industry.

The theme chosen for this convention was  'Emerging Innovation in the Hospitality Industry – Vision 2020'.  Mr. Subodh Kant Sahay, the Union Tourism Minister was present there as the 'chief guest' and inaugurated the three-day convention. Mr. Shashi Tharoor, former union minister of state also attended the convention as a key-note speaker.

The focus of the convention was to explore myriad opportunities that are available for hospitality industry to actively collaborate with the government through public-private-partnership. There were extensive sessions to discuss collaborations in the diverse areas including sustainable development, skill development through the 'Hunar Se Rojgar Yojana', promoting safe and honourable tourism, strengthening wellness and medical tourism as growth segments using tourism as an economic driver of the community development and re-orienting hospitality education framework to better reflect the national priorities and evolving market dynamics.
